Because of our geographical location on the north-western side of the island and its heavenly verdant vegetation, Apartment Espoir is indeed a notable and exquisite habitat for most if not all of the island's endemic birds. Saint Lucia is also considered the most important birding destination of the Lesser Antilles being habitat to 5 – 7 island endemics among which are the following:
  • The St. Lucia Parrot (Amerzona Versicolor)
  • The St. Lucia Black Finch (Melanospiza richardsoni)
  • The St. Lucia Pewee (Contopus oberi)
  • The Antillean Crested Hummingbird (Orthorhyncus Cristatus)
  • The Saint Lucia Oriole (Icterus laudabilis)
  • The Saint Lucia Warbler (Dendroica delicata)
  • The Scaly Breasted Thrasher (Margarops Fuscus)
Some 170 other species form the species list of other birds that migrate to the island a significant number of which are from North America.
If you plan your accommodation with Apartment Espoir we will facilitate you with all the details to make it fairly easy to see most if not all of the 7 noted endemic species of St. Lucia, within a 7-day vacation. Note that the St. Lucia Green Parrot (Amazona versicolor) and the St. Lucia Oriole (Icterus laudibilis) are transient to our Espoir gardens. Keith the owner of Espoir property is an avid bird watcher himself and has had years of experience and dedication to observing and nurturing these beautiful winged creatures. At Apartment Espoir, we love birding and certainly work towards developing our property's nature environs to a full fledged local bird sanctuary for the benefit of our visiting guests and the island in general. On that premise, we offer a 10% discount on all our accommodations if you are a member of any onithology association and wish to vacation at Apartment Espoir by providing us with your membership details when making your reservations. We will respond by sending our discount code to you.
